WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT Soon we will be setting out on our tenth Australian tour, over an eight week period that takes us from Melbourne to Cairns and across to Adelaide. There will be almost forty performances of our current production of Red Riding Hood and Yhi Brings Life To The World at both Steiner and mainstream schools. An undertaking of this nature requires months of organising, choreographic work and rehearsal prior to the actual tour. While our tours “break even” there is nothing left over for either pre-tour or post-tour periods, when the most work is to be done. Since 1991, the year of our first tour, we have struggled financially as a professional performing troupe, reaching all states of Australia and beyond. Further details can be found on www.eurythmy.com.au You can help us by making a donation using the form below. Other projects we are working on: 1. 2008 Australian Tour This involves conceiving a program, designing a brochure and mailing it to five thousand mainstream schools, an initial cost of three and a half thousand dollars. 2. A new production of King Lear to be staged in Melbourne later this year. Apart from the cast of ten, theatre hire and advertising costs are enormous. 3. North American Tour (late 2008) One of my aims is to be on the road (touring) for seven months of the year. Not only will eurythmists be able to eat for this period, but they will have the opportunity to practise their craft over an extended period: you only learn by doing. While I have some contacts in America it will be necessary to build up many more. This will be both time consuming and costly. The organisational phase of this project will take a good twelve months. 4. Performance-based Eurythmy Training There was a time when actors, painters and sculptors learnt their craft on the job. Initially carrying the bags and undertaking walk on roles they gradually migrated to more major ones. For a number of years I have been training young people in this way and it has evolved into a fully blown eurythmy training. In this way I hope to overcome the shortage of eurythmists, especially those willing to do the hard yards. These students need to eat and live. |
